Variance in Penis Size
As with anything else in the world, there are no set statistics on penis size. Depending on which article you read or which doctor you talk to you, which survey you peruse, or which television show you watch, the numbers associated with penis size will all be different. Why is this?
Statistical Surveys – Inaccuracy
When a survey proclaims that the average size of a male penis is a certain number of inches in length, it is basing its figures on a select group of men that were surveyed. With regards to these surveys, there is a lot to take into consideration. First and foremost, who was surveyed? It is important to recognize that men come in many shapes and sizes and that a select number of men chosen for a survey is not always a great representation of the entire gender.
Next, it's important to consider who actually established the measurements of these men being surveyed. If a doctor did the measuring, this is probably a better survey. However, if men just sent in their own measurements, the survey could be seriously flawed. Research has shown that men tend to inflate their penis size or just assume that their penis is a certain size without measuring it.
Another factor that can affect these surveys is the way in which the penises were measured. Most scientists agree that penis size will vary depending on the time of the day, the level of arousal, the temperature, and the mood of the male being measured. Given all of these variables, getting an accurate penis size can be very difficult in and of itself.
Blame it on Genetics
As with everything else in life, the genes that you have been blessed with play a large role in the size of your penis. Many doctors agree that the size of a man's penis is greatly based on the size of the penises of the males in his genetic line. However, this does not mean that if your father has a ten inch penis that you will be "blessed" with the exact same size penis.
Because penis size is based largely on genetic factors, and not solely on environmental factors, the size of each and every man's penis will vary greatly – no two penises are alike.
Conclusions
As with anything, the size of the penis will greatly vary between men. This is especially important when deciding how your penis "measures up" to other penises. You may feel great if your penis falls within the "average" size category, but that really has no indication of how you are as a sexual partner and it certainly has nothing to do with the measure of how you are a human being or how masculine you are.
It is important to recognize this factor and to acknowledge the variance in penis size, as well as the variance in the reports of average penis size because basing your entire self-worth on a statistic that you found on the Internet just is not worth the depression or lack of self-esteem that it may cause.
